Ladies Did It Again!

The England Ladies have become quite the team to beat in the last few years. Winning the European Cup the last two times and being runners up in the World Cup, there is a firm belief in the side that Sarina Wiegman has built.

The England men on the other hand have a lot to work on but no doubt that if directed under the right people, their next World Cup could go really well too. Hope they were watching how the ladies won the Euros!

Our ladies in the England squad, worked really hard although could have gone forward more to win games earlier (although the defending was world class) – putting on the likes of Agyemang late on was a great decision because of the impact she made with fresh legs. Hopefully she will be in the squad for the world cup in a few years too. Deserved her young player of the tournament award.
The other player that was a real soldier for us was Lucy Bronze who had actually been playing with a fractured tibia! All the best for her recovery now.

Football as a sport has been very male dominated and the ladies were banned from playing for 50 years, from 1921 to 1971. Allowing ladies back into a sport that has seen the likes of David Beckham, Leo Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Erling Haaland succeed in, has changed the way that women are viewed. Although some countries are still a bit behind (but working on) the rights and respecting their female population.

Now that the ladies have shown the men what they can do, will we find more clubs putting on extra sessions again? Will we find our next Alessia Russo or next Hannah Hampton or even a Jess Carter to tear up the football scene in years to come?
